Since 2006, Veterans Day has been a fee free day at Bandelier National Monument, this year is no exception. On Wednesday, Nov. 11 in honor of those who have served and sacrificed for our country, the National Park Service invites the public to remember our veterans by waiving entrance fees at national park areas that normally charge an entrance fee on Veterans Day. Fee free days provide opportunities to explore new places or enjoy a favorite. Out of more than 400 national parks, just over 100 charge an entrance fee. The entrance fee waiver for fee-free days does not cover amenity or user fees for activities such as camping.

On October 28, U.S. Secretary of the Interior David L. Bernhardt signed a Secretary’s Order that waives entrance fees to national parks, wildlife refuges and other public lands and waters managed by the Department of the Interior for 5th grade students and their families from now until Aug. 31, 2021. https://www.nps.gov/orgs/1207/trump-administration-provides-5th-grade-students-with-free-entrance-to-national-parks-refuges-and-other-public-lands.htm This, of course, includes Bandelier. Many 4th graders missed out on using their Every Kid Outdoors Annual 4th Grade Pass https://www.everykidoutdoors.gov/ during the 2019-2020 school year. A new voucher is now available for 5th grade students for the rest of the school year. With this voucher, 5th graders and their families will have free access to national parks and other federal lands managed by the Department of the Interior.
