Rotary Club of Los Alamos
The Rotary Club of Los Alamos wholeheartedly thanks all volunteers from Los Alamos County and neighboring communities for the overwhelming response to last month’s Meals of Hope project!
Special thanks go to Crossroads Bible Church for hosting and helping! Additionally, we would like to thank Boy Scout Troop 22 for having 10-14 people there all day, Girl Scout Troop 10544, the Los Alamos Police Department, the New Mexico State Police, Project Management Institute-Otowi Bridge Chapter, One Paycheck Away documentary filmmakers, community members, and all the Rotarians who helped! We had 112 people helping on site over the two days of set-up and food-packing, in addition to all the diligent people who helped behind the scenes and who distributed the food after it was packed!
I am pleased to let you know that we packed 40,036 servings of rice and beans with seasoning packets. The bags are being distributed now by The Food Depot in Santa Fe, and some are heading back to Los Alamos through LA Cares. Any remaining food we weren’t able to pack was sent to The Food Depot as well.
This would not have been possible without the support of our wonderful community in Los Alamos!
This event was so successful and is filling such a critical need, that we have been asked when we will do it again. To that end, those who would like to support the work of the Rotary Club of Los Alamos are encouraged to make a tax-deductible donation to Los Alamos Rotary 1312, a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation, at PO Box 986, Los Alamos, NM, 87544.
We are also planning an online giving campaign to support another Meals of Hope project, Polio Plus Purple Pinkie, and the numerous other projects we support in our community. Please look for this in the future.
Thank you again, Los Alamos and Northern New Mexico, for participating in the Meals of Hope community service project!
