Los Alamos High School is kicking off a month of celebration of the Class of 2020 Friday, May 1 with its first event “Be the Light!”. Communities throughout the state and the nation are participating in the “Be the Light” initiative to honor their high school seniors who are missing out on many traditional graduation events and celebrations.

At 8:20 p.m. (20:20 military time) on Friday night, the community is invited to show support for Los Alamos High School seniors in a moment of solidarity.

LAHS will light up Sullivan Field and Griffith Gym for 20 minutes. Everyone in the community is invited to turn on their porch lights, flashlights and outdoor lights at the same time as a beacon to show that they are thinking about our youth and that eventually we will come back together again.

The entire community is encouraged to participate by “being the light”, getting out their green and gold and showing their Topper Pride. Many people are planning to hang holiday lights and decorate their porches to honor seniors.

Participants are requested to remain in their vehicles if they drive by Sullivan Field to view the lights.
