Los Alamos Police Department is investigating burglaries of multiple cars in the County since Saturday morning including one at Mountain Vista Apartments on North Mesa overnight Friday, four in White Rock and one in the Quemazon area reported Wednesday.
In addition to the vehicles, a garage in White Rock was also burglarized after the door was inadvertently left open.
The owner of the vehicle on North Mesa reportedly received phone messages from her bank indicating that there was an attempt to use her bank card and when she went to her vehicle, she found out it had been burglarized and her card was missing.
LAPD Cmdr. Oliver Morris told the Los Alamos Reporter Thursday morning that video obtained from the White Rock break-ins will be released to the public later today. He said a $500 reward is being offered for information on the burglaries.
Commander Morris asked that members of the community remove valuable items from their vehicles and lock them. He also advised people to close their gates and garage doors and not to leave valuable items such as tools in their driveways.
LAPD has recovered two bicycles and Morris said anyone who has had a bicycle stolen recently can contact the Department at (505) 662-8222 to find out if their bicycle is one of the two recovered.
Anyone with any information about the burglaries can call LAPD Dispatch, (505) 662-8222 or Crime Stoppers, (505) 662-8282. Callers can remain anonymous.
