The New Mexico National Board Certified Teacher (NMNBCT) Network presented Los Alamos Public Schools Supt. Kurt Steinhaus with the Administrator of the Year award at their annual conference on Saturday, Sept. 28. 

This award recognizes school administrators who go above and beyond to aid the endeavors of the NMNBCT network, specifically for his continued support for teachers going through the National Board Certification process.   

“Dr. Steinhaus has been a long time advocate for education and is an extraordinary administrator who supports his teachers in every way,” said NMNBCT Network President Evelyn Sanchez. “The NMNBCT Network thanks him for his continued support in advancing accomplished teaching and national boards in New Mexico.” 

Earning this certification is a high honor and involves a rigorous process. According to the NMNBCT Network, national board certified teachers positively impact student learning. There are 42 national board certified teachers within LAPS. 

The goal of the NMNBCT Network is to advance the work of National Boards in New Mexico, as well as provide NBCT candidate support training and professional development for teachers, NBCT candidates and NBCTs.
