Explore the astronomy and folklore behind the summer solstice this Friday, June 21 at the Los Alamos Nature Center. Rick Wallace will discuss the astronomical significance of the solstice and share stories of solstice traditions and mid-summer celebrations around the world. This talk begins at 6 p.m. Mature themes may be mentioned during this presentation.

In addition to Friday night’s talk, join the nature center on Saturday, June 22 at 2 p.m. to see the full-dome film “EXPLORE.” This show revolves around the ambition to colonize Mars and shows how the achievements of individuals can change our understanding of the world! High-quality visuals, original music and professional narration all serve to enhance the audience’s immersive experience.

Seating is limited for both this talk and movie, so please call the nature center at 505-662-0460 or stop by to reserve your tickets. Admission for both events is $6 for adults and $4 for children. Events in the planetarium are not recommended for children under age 4.
