Rotarians Award Funds To Community Non-Profits

Recipients of Rotary Community Funding Requests, Fall 2018, gathered recently at the Rotary Club of Los Alamos to receive awards of up to $500.00 for their non-profit organizations.  From left  to right are:  Catherine Aguilar, Beverly Post, and Steve Glick of the Rio Arriba Adult Literacy Program; Chris Monteith and Shashi Charles of the Los Alamos Arts Council; Rotary Club President Vincent Chiravalle; Los Alamos Middle School student Nick of LAMS Computer Projects; David Sutton of Habitat for Humanity, Los Alamos and Española Valley; T.J. Bonzon of LAMS Computer Projects; and Jordan Redmond of the Los Alamos Family Council Youth Activity Center.  Not pictured:  Bill Wolf of the Civil Air Patrol and Yvonne Atencio of Habitat for Humanity. The Community Funding Requests program is chaired by Rotarian Natalia Tretiak.  Representatives from area non-profits may apply for funding of up to $500 every six months.  Applications are selected by a Rotary committee and voted upon by Club members.  The next round of applications will be accepted January 14-March 29, with funding awarded in early May.  For the application form, please go to: rotarylosalamos.com. spoke at Rotary recently, providing consumer tips for shopping precautions
during the holiday season when scammers and identity thieves are most
active.  Especially of note, be aware that small pieces of personal
information–from banking papers, prescription and shopping receipts, social
media, and even bumper stickers–can easily reveal your personal data to
