A criminal summons has been issued by Los Alamos Magistrate Court to a 19-year old Santa Fe man on three charges of indecent exposure.

Brandyn Maxey, 19, was interviewed by Los Alamos Police Det. Ryan Wolking Nov 19 and confessed to exposing himself to three women who were victims in three different LAPD cases. He also admitted to a fourth incident but LAPD does not have a fourth exposure complaint.

The charges relate to incidents in August 2017 and on Sept. 20 and Nov. 1 of this year. A statement of probable cause filed by Wolking in Los Alamos Magistrate Court indicates Maxey exposed himself for a $20 bet.

During his interview with Wolking, Maxey was asked how he picked his victims and replied that he “just saw them in the moment” and “made a wrong decision”, that he guessed, “they were just in the wrong spot at the wrong time.”

Wolking’s report said Maxey became a suspect after the Nov. 1 incident when he was observed on a security camera in the area and matched the description of a suspect. Using the image, Wolking made the identification which he confirmed with a driver’s license photo. That photo was shown to the three victims in a photo lineup and then two of the victims met with a sketch artist.

“Through these processes it became clear if was necessary to interview him,” Wolking’s statement of probable cause concludes.

Maxey is slated to appear before Magistrate Judge Pat Casados on Dec. 10 for arraignment.
